Rinoa did not need to develop in the game, but she did quite easily when being around Squall. Because of the way Squall acted, irritated Rinoa and that lead to arguments and hatred, but as time continued her way, Rinoa got to know Squall more and wanted to change him, because she knows it's not like him at all to be lonely and avoid people and conversations.

From the first moment they met, Rinoa thought Squall would be open and yet shy, but when she met him again, she kind of became dissapointed, because rarely people are rude against her and she hates that. Instead Rinoa wants to help Squall, trying to focus on his trauma, because she knows (might be from Zell), that Squall can be gentle and friendly, but is scared about something.

During the course of the game, Rinoa got to understand Squall more and more, and because she knows that he does not like spirited personalities and people that want him to change quickly, she changes to into Squall. Whenever there was a conversation, Rinoa talked gentle, soft, but still pushable to force Squall to express, which actually did help.

Rinoa did not change too much in the game, but she did change for Squall to let him open up and to show him that he can trust her with all his heart. Since when she found out that she likes him, she would do anything for him to let his trauma be released and that whenever bad things happens, good things will follow.

Squall only realized this the moment Rinoa fell in a coma, and he would give his life for her. When returning back to Squall, she closes herself more of from Squall, because she is scared that he might run in danger when being around her, but Squall doesn't care at all, because whatever he gained now (her), he would do anything to behold it from danger, that's what he meants by becoming her knight.

During the step of rescueing Squall from his trauma, Rinoa finally learns to deal with her own. It makes her much stronger at the end, since she knows that she isn't alone anymore and that their are people, such as Squall, she can rely on. Therefore if you really got a place in her heart, give her your ring, she will hold it on with her life.

At the end of the game, Rinoa did traumatize again with her past, because she can't find her love, but affectiones of her past, her strenght she got with Squall revealed her true desires of sorceress power to find him again and bring him back.
