Sorceresses or witches are very comment in Final Fantasy VIII. Not much is told or known by them, yet they do create a lot of fear amount most of the people.

After a certain time, sorceresses removes their powers and gives it to someone with no notice. These people can only inherite these powers if they had any sort of communication with sorceresses or have a great discipline in using all sorts of magic.

Rinoa "great luck" of becoming a sorceress isn't been interacted during the course of the game, yet many things can be answered if we look deeper into them.

At first, Rinoa is the only person that interacts a lot with sorceresses. First, she goes on her own to talk to Edea, becoming hypnotized. So for a slight sec, she could feel the tremendous power of a sorceress. Some time later she becomes possessed by a sorceress together with the feathers that makes some sort of a symbol with her.

Rinoa may not know, but she does have the highest magic range during the game. Sorceresses have a great amount of magic strenght, so this could have been a reason why Rinoa became one herself.

Rinoa is one of the few strong sorceresses. Reasons for this are two sorceresses; Edea and Adel. It may not been said in the game or not so direct, Rinoa did receive the power of Adel before she died.

Angel and Lion

Like Squall, Rinoa is destined to be open-hearted. It may seem that of her own heart, Julia had the same kind of affections and Caraway was quite the lonely type. Perhaps this affected Rinoa by any chance of caring for Squall. Yet, both Caraway and Squall are different in different and yet similar way's.

Her personality may have hitted of Squall and vica versa, yet their differences were both the same. Rinoa promised to show Squall what life really is, none intentions of going much farther.

This may seem odd, yet it is what love is all about. You help someone, caring for that person then...falling in love. Rinoa could have easily walked away when completing her promise, yet she didn't. Infact she stayed with him.
