A shooting star is not what the name makes it to be, a shooting star is not a star that falls, but mere a meteoroid, part of a meteor that passes the planet. The long tail of a meteor is a combination of pieces from the meteor that follows the path of the meteor, of the speed it forms a long colorful tail. Sometimes pieces of the tail leaves the orbit and falls down either aside the planet or on the planet, but they eventually burn out before crashing down on the ground.

The shooting stars have a significant role in the game and mostly in the relationship between Squall and Rinoa, since they meet under one and end the game with one.

The difference

The meteroid that passes a planet has many different names. Some people do not know what a meteroid is, they believe the meaning behind the name falling star or shooting star is real, but it is not a star falling down, since stars are much bigger the pieces of a rock.

A third and more efficient word to believe is Wishing Star, people believe that when you see a star falling and if you wish in silence, the wish will come true. Wether or not it works, it comes down to what a person wishes and how.

The meeting

The relationship between Squall and Rinoa start with the meeting under a falling star. It is the SeeD gradutation that night, Squall being silenced at the side, a girl meets up with him asking for a dance, while pointing her finger up.

The meeting ended well and Squall first was suprised by Rinoa, since she did manage to give in to dance with her, even though she did pull him onto the dancefloor, in the end he did decide to dance on his best as how he has learned during class.

Destined to meet again, they meet the next day, all in all their personalities show how different they are.

The dream

During the conversation where Squall has decided, Rinoa confesses that she has been dreaming for some nights about a promise they made. A promise that they will meet and see some shooting stars together.

Here is told why the shooting star has a big role in the game, since Squall and Rinoa did meet under a shooting star and end the game under one.

With the promise of seeing shooting stars, Rinoa dressed herself pretty, but she cannot find or remember where to meet up with Squall, so she runs throughout every town and plains they have walked through.

The reason why Rinoa cannot remember where to meet with him, is because they have not promised yet, Squall assures her and promises that if they are seperated, they will meet up at the flower field.

In the end, Squall and Rinoa got seperated from each other, through diffeerent times and circumstances, in the end they did meet up, but the promise to view shooting stars was held somewhere else.

The ending

After the camera credits, there is a special scene as of the promise between Squall and Rinoa. We see Rinoa leaning on a balcony, looking to the stars. At a certain point a shooting star passes by, and Rinoa starts to point her finger upwards again as what she has done so before with their first meeting.

We meet up with Squall, whom smiles and slowly comes closer to Rinoa, where they meet up their promise by the long awaited moment, their first kiss. Damn those stupid camera's!
