Side Quests - The Master Fisherman

Carry out a small errand for the Master Fisherman.

Disc 2 - Fishermans Horizon. Begin the quest when crash landing into FH.

Needed Items

→ Occult Fan III [magazine]
→ Megalixer [recovery/status item]

→ When first entering FH, notice that on the bridge before the elevator into the town proper there is a ladder along the wall. If you're having trouble finding it, click here for a picture. Take this ladder down and follow the path until you meet the Master Fisherman. He will give you the [Occult Fan III] magazine for taking the time to speak to him. Talk to him until he asks you to complete an errand for him.

→ The boy, aka "Fisherkid," is towards the middle of town. Across the track from the hotel (take a right instead of going to the mayor's house) is a dock. Fisherkid is in the little boat. Talk to Fisherkid until he almost kills the shop keeper. Give the following replies:

Sort of.
I saw him.
I was sort of...impressed.

→ Complete the storyline up until the point you defeat the Iron Clad and learn the fate of the Missile Base Party.

→ Return to the docks and talk to Fisherkid again. This time he'll have more success!

→ Irvine will join your party. Once he does, return to the Master Fisherman (he'll be in the same place as before) and speak with him.

→ Meet the Master Fisherman in the hotel and listen to him speak. Listen to everything he has to say---choose to let him keep talking. Then you'll be able to follow him out to the dock where Fisherkid is for another scene. Once you have control over Squall again, speak with him and he'll present you with a [Megalixer].

Concluding Notes
Clearly the biggest benefit of this quest is the information you get. While not important to the storyline, it's interesting to learn the history of the place, isn't it? But if you'd rather not do this quest, I've explained basically what happens in this article here for you.
